Joanna founded the Shawver Group to devote her track record of success, trusted expertise, and passionate focus to achieve client goals. With decades of experience, Joanna Shawver has earned a stellar reputation in the commercial real estate industry as a dynamic and collaborative leader. Known for her personable persistence, Joanna dives into every project with a meticulously smart and vibrantly creative approach.
Joanna has helped national brands expand their footprint in the Midwest to include Helzberg Diamonds, McAlister’s Deli, Freddy’s Frozen Custard, Noodles & Co, Limited Brands, Woof’s Play & Stay and Smoothie King to name a few. She also provides strategic consulting to clients on commercial real estate developments as well as solutions to reposition existing real estate assets. Joanna collaborates with in-house real estate teams and brokerage companies. Along with her national and regional work, Joanna and her team guide franchisees, business owners and entrepreneurs on commercial real estate investments.
Prior to founding the Shawver Group, Joanna was recruited to the executive team of the RED family of companies. As Senior Vice President of Leasing for LEGACY Development, she led the leasing of major Kansas City area redevelopments including Liberty Commons, Truman’s Marketplace and Wyandotte Plaza. As Vice President of Leasing for RED Development, she supervised leasing teams on dozens of high-profile Midwest shopping centers including Village Pointe in Omaha, NE, SouthPointe Pavilions in Lincoln, NE, SummitWoods Crossing in Lee’s Summit, MO, and the Legends Outlet in Kansas City, MO. Joanna started her career with Copaken White & Blitt before being recruited by Kessinger Hunter.
Throughout her career, Joanna has been an active member of Innovating Commerce Serving Communities (ICSC) and holds the industry designation as a Certified Retail Real Estate Professional (CRRP). Joanna is a member of Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW) and was awarded the 2017 Excellence Award from CREW KC. Joanna is an original member of WIRED, a mentoring group for women in real estate development. Joanna is a member of KCRAR and CCIM. She is a licensed broker in Missouri and Kansas holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Missouri.
Joanna is a lifelong resident of Kansas City and with her husband is the proud mom to two adult daughters. When she is not enjoying quality time with family and friends, Joanna supports various charitable organizations such as Sleepyhead Beds and The Giving Tree through her local church.
